I discovered the “new age” back in the late 80s. I bought some crystals, the book Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain (I didn’t understand a word of it), some purple and blue candles (to develop my psychic abilities), a tarot deck (to develop my psychic abilities) and a long, swirly skirt (it made me look psychic).
Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life by Shakti Gawain
There are very few people in the spiritual community that haven’t heard of Shakti Gawain. Her book, Creative Visualization, originally published in 1978, started a trend in spiritual and physical self improvement that has yet to be beat.
That is until now, with the release of her thirtieth anniversary edition.
How Shamans Dream the World into Being by Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D.
This is the first book I’ve ever read by Alberto Villoldo. As I had heard some good things about him and I’m a fan of any well written book on dreaming, I was very excited to read this book.
Among the Native Americans, and many indigenous tribes around the world, animals are known to carry a special power, or medicine. These are known as animal totems or animal spirits. The appearance of an animal totem in a dream may mean that it has a particular message for you related to its power.

A Guide to 200 Celestial Beings to Help, Heal, and Assist You in Everyday Life By Susan Gregg
One of the first things about this book that impressed me so was its size. It’s rather large, and though it’s not a hard bound book, the cover is certainly thicker than your typical paper back book.
Divine Guidance for Personal healing and Spiritual Discovery
by Meredith L. Young-Sowers
“Your spirit seeks to draw you into an awakened state, because this is all that it knows.” From the book ~ page 128
I wholeheartedly believe that we are constantly surrounded by divine energy. Everywhere we look, there are the answers to those pressing questions, we just have to be able to open our eyes and see.
Sometimes though, we get so stressed, it’s hard to be open to receiving divine guidance. It’s at these times I like to use my angel cards.
The Angelic Messenger Cards, by Meredith L. Young-Sowers, are a little different than your typical angel cards. They feature photographs of flowers and plants rather than artistic renderings of angels.
When I was 27 years old I hurt my back. That one minor back injury (which healed up nicely, by the way) led to a series of events which steered me off the path of being a data processing assistant and down the path to where I am now: a new thought minister and mom who home birthed two children, then went on to home school them. Yup. All because one morning I strained a muscle.
“…we dream to awaken to who we are. And it is the strong dreamers – the shamans – who can heal the wound between Earth and Sky.” From the book – page 68.
When we learn to work with our dreams, and the symbolic language of our subconscious mind, we are privy to information that no one else can access; we open to a world of healing and understanding that we could never get anywhere else.
Dreamguider – Open the Door to Your Child’s Dreams – by Denyse Beaudet, PhD., is a beautiful look into the world of children’s dreams.
I knew as a child that dreams were important, however, I was surrounded by adults who failed to see their importance – even when I’d had a precognitive dream!
I first discover Mindy Gledhill through her Christmas CD, Winter Moon. I loved it so much, I decided to get her CD, Feather in the Wind.
Mindy Gledhill has a very feminine, gentle, and sometimes whimsical, voice. She reminds me a bit of the Sundays or Sixpence None the Richer, but I like her music even better!
